My 94 had the dash/gauge pod replaced with a brand new one from Tasca many years ago. No idea how they did it but it had the correct mileage when I got it back

Rick Menard said he'd tell me if need be as he did it for insurance cases. Replacements. When I got an '88 cluster once for Dave @ Revolution Tuning, Rick said not hard to redo to match what you take out.
Well, next time I feel like taking the dash apart (pain in the ass), I'll hook a drill to it and see if it spins forward. I'd imagine forward is easy -- backwards is probably where you need to take things apart.
By the way there is a good step-by-step for resetting the odometer on 95-03 Rangers. I'd imagine it's similar for some of our cars. Go here:

Remember, the speedo cable can be unhook at other end, at transmission. No need to take cluster out.
But just save old cluster, document what replacement one starter at.
FYI if you still have old cluster, you can figure out "how to" reset it. play with that one first. Then you can tell us all.
Don't laugh! My Dad used to tell a story of some cops in town that would put their cruiser up on a chassis lift in a garage and leave it in drive while they played cards and drank coffee (probably ate donuts, to o ) so it would appear they were out patrolling.
Or you could disconnect the speedo cable at the tranny and do it from there.
