    Short throw shifter

One of my friends just got a new Mini and was wondering if installing a short throw shifter would be worth it. He is using it as a daily driver and is not going to race it or anything. This is what he wants to install http://new.minimania.com/part/G3NMD7...stable-F56-F55
    Anyone have any input?

if he hates or doesn't like the way the mini shifts now, I'd say it would be a good idea.

looks like a nice piece, I like how its adjustable.

A short throw was the first mod I did to both my 02 GT and my Cobra. Makes a huge difference in driving feel and enjoyment.
I seem to remember Jen's mini having kind of a long throw the time I drove it, so it would probably be worth it.

Good point. Mini/BMW are horrible when it comes to that stuff. If you use the wrong car wash they void the warranty.

No. US vehicle warranty laws do not allow a dealer to "just void the warranty" due to aftermarket parts UNLESS the part can be shown to have contributed to the warranty part failure.

Example: you replace the intake with a cold air kit -- and your rear window blows out on the highway under warranty, they cannot refuse the claim because of the cold air kit.

So if he does the short throw shifter and it does transmission damage, he's screwed. But for almost anything else, he's good to go. Plus, the really smart people would put the OEM shifter back in before bringing the car for transmission related service.

Agree wit the above, no dealer would ever void a warranty over a short throw shifter. Shit, I bet 90% of the techs wouldn't even notice it's on there

You guys have never felt with Mini/BMW!!!!! The BMW dealer wouldn't put a tire on Jen's rim because "it wasn't a BMW" Jen quickly pointed out that it was and they STILL wouldn't work on it.
But I do agree, nothing mechanical is being changed out so it shouldn't be an issue.
