So the V6 is cheaper than the 4 banger? Interesting

$10K extra for a vert? That's steep!

Boy.... That car keeps looking better and better to me.

Bruce, We know you always pay more for a vert....what would you guess is the reason for this difference? Extra chasis stiffening? Engineering costs? Production costs?

Thought I read a few years back (maybe the '05 redo or the '10?) that the new mustangs were built as convertibles then they put the top on for the coupe. If that is true than the stiffening and engineering cost wouldn't be that much more. I could be wrong?

Verts have more moving parts therefore cost more

the v6 in a mustang has been around forever....putting a 4 cyl has not occured in a long time. Probably took some extra work / engineering to get the car to perform. Those costs are passed on to us the consumer

On a side note, I got a good laugh at one of those mustangs of mass guys who paid $10k over sticker for a 1964.5 anniversary car.....hahahahah, such a waste of $$

Also -- I believe Ford is positioning the 4 cyl Turbo engine as a step between base and GT. I think it's supposed to have slightly better performance. The six is the base model.

Cool! That means my GT must be worth 10 grand more too -- it's a 25th anniversary Mustang. Even has the little badge on the dash.

Agreed, but $10K is silly. The difference was more like $2K when I got my 94 and prices have not gone up by a factor of 5 since them.

you're right, when it comes to cars they've gone up 10x lol

My bet is the vert was designed as a Vert...where as your and mine was designed as a coupe with the top just cut off.

I guess I better keep the one I have as I would never be able to afford a new one! A new top for the 94 suddenly feels like a bargain!
