I replaced my gauge/dash pod in the GT over the winter. I am now the proud owner of a 90 GT with only 17000 miles! :D
Does anyone know if I have to fill out some form or another before I register the car again? Or does mileage only come into play if/when I sell the car and have to fill out the NH DMV Mileage Disclosure form.
Also -- as I write this, I realized I still owe George for the gauge pod.....

You don't need to do anything until you sell it. Until then, the State of NH doesn't care how much mileage you have, but it will sure look fishy on the Carfax if you do anything that will get recorded there!

Jim, I've been asked this question before. And according to Rick Menard it's not that hard to reset the odometer reading to match what you had. In the days, he had to do it all the time when selling them to fix insurance claim cars. Perhaps Google it or I can ask him if need be.
Yea Sam Lite. lol

Sam Lite -- you got it!
I guess if the state doesn't care, I won't worry about it. I'll put a decal on the speedo stating correct mileage offset. When I sell this, I doubt the next owner will care much -- even the true mileage is pretty low. (about 67,000)

Aren't those mechanical anyways? Why wouldn't you just spin it up to match the original mileage?

Yes they are mechanical and can be changed (for the right reasons of coarse).

I've been told you can just hook a speedo cable to it and use an electric drill to turn the cable. Never tried it myself as I never needed to.

My 94 had the dash/gauge pod replaced with a brand new one from Tasca many years ago. No idea how they did it but it had the correct mileage when I got it back

Rick Menard said he'd tell me if need be as he did it for insurance cases. Replacements. When I got an '88 cluster once for Dave @ Revolution Tuning, Rick said not hard to redo to match what you take out.

Well, next time I feel like taking the dash apart (pain in the ass), I'll hook a drill to it and see if it spins forward. I'd imagine forward is easy -- backwards is probably where you need to take things apart.
By the way there is a good step-by-step for resetting the odometer on 95-03 Rangers. I'd imagine it's similar for some of our cars. Go here:

Remember, the speedo cable can be unhook at other end, at transmission. No need to take cluster out.
But just save old cluster, document what replacement one starter at.
FYI if you still have old cluster, you can figure out "how to" reset it. play with that one first. Then you can tell us all.

Don't laugh! My Dad used to tell a story of some cops in town that would put their cruiser up on a chassis lift in a garage and leave it in drive while they played cards and drank coffee (probably ate donuts, to o:) ) so it would appear they were out patrolling. :D

Or you could disconnect the speedo cable at the tranny and do it from there.

lol -- if I'm doing my math right... at 100mph, it would take 18 days to put 45000 on the clock.

If my math is correct it will take Ian 71.2 years to reach 45000 on his Cobra
