View Full Version : New injectors and some TLC for the Stealth Fighter

As some of you know, I recently had injector failure on the #2 cylinder. Car generally idling like crap (again) and feeling sluggish. I think a couple of the other injectors were getting a little "lazy" perhaps. Back when I was upgrading injectors about 6 years ago, FRPP 30# injectors were out of stock worldwide. They were what I wanted, but I couldn't get 'em. So I settled and got a set of Summit injectors. (Cue the suspense music here :( )

Long story short, the Summit injectors are c-r-a-p. Being tired of anything but primo injectors, I decided to with a set of DeatschWerks 35# flow-matched injectors. (www.dwinjectors.com) These have a great rep and seem to be great injectors. At the same time, I decided to finally get the correct length EGR tube made for my setup and to replace header gaskets and bolts, as well as the valve cover bolts that have been refusing to stay tight for years.

I was going to use Stage 8 locking header bolts, but Dana and Chris recommended the Proform bolts and that's what I have. We'll see how they work out. Before anyone asks why I bother with the EGR tube, I'm a green kind of guy and still have ALL of the original smog system on my car in good working condition. My car is cleaner than when it left the factory with a lot less power than it has now, and I'm proud of that. YMMV. Peace. :)

So anyway, to cut to the chase, after Alex at Granite State Dyno and Tune finished with the car on the dyno, it had a net gain of about 10rwhp and about 3.5 lb/ft above his previous tune, and the weather was significantly worse for the dyno this time around. Graphs below:

Hats off to you for that.
Someone needs to let the crunchy-granola-tree-huggers in on this: It is possible to have a fun, fast, v-8 powered car that is still reasonably ecologically responsible.
Bruce and his car deserve a profile in a magazine.

Thanks, Jim. Some say I'm foolish, but I totally enjoy the car, and enjoy it more knowing I'm not doing more harm than I need to.

Thanks, Ian. I am, for an N/A motor with a stock bottom end and full pollution control. And I hope to find out later what the numbers are when it's in the 50s or 60s rather than 87 degrees!
