Damn, That's a sexy car. I gotta say -- for the price, I think I'd take that over a GT500. Not that I can even dream about the mere off-chance of the slightest possibility of buying one.

A 6.2-liter small-block LT1 V-8 cranks out roughly 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, with direct injection and fuel-saving cylinder deactivation. A stiffened aluminum chassis, carbon fiber hood and roof and nano-scale carbon composite underbody hold weight to roughly 3,300 pounds. A 7-speed rev-matching manual transmission is optional. Below 4,000 r.p.m., the Stingray virtually matches the torque curve of the mighty, 505-horse Corvette Z06. It also runs to 60 m.p.h. in less than four seconds.
The Corvette reaches showrooms late this summer, with the company hinting at a base price of around $56,000 – about $5,000 more than a current base-model coupe, but still a relative bargain for a near-exotic performer with a top speed above 190 m.p.h.

sorry, horrible. Trying WAY to hard to compete with european cars and has lost it's way.
56k for a base model vette. That will push any options way above what a GT50 costs
450 hp and 450 ft lbs.....so these things will put down 410ish to the wheels? I get the weight thing, but still........a 5.0 makes better numbers.
2013 GT500 win's again

I agree with Ian. I think it looks like an ugly, overdone attempt to look like Lambo or Ferrari. There are Vettes I have liked. This is not one of them. If I somehow won one I would sell it ASAP and never look back.

It's funny, I was showing Jen this last night. I must say, like the Camaro I'm not a fan of the rearend. The front until the doors I kind of like. It does seem a little low on the HP but I just am not a huge fan of the way it looks.

"trying to look like Euro cars." LOL. I can't wait to hear what you guys say when the next gen Stang comes out...... (which -- so far -- I also think looks cool as hell.)
Why should American muscle HAVE to be boxy and un-aerodynamic? Ferdinand and Enzo's companies make sexy freakin cars. Anyone that says they don't is blind.

I remember a couple yrs ago a comparrison was done between top of line Mustang against a corvette. In almost every catagory the mustang equalled. Stopping, road coarse, top end. etc. Only one catagory vet beat it, think top end.
It was summed up best bag for your buck stang vs vet,... Stang wins.
The rear end looks like retro Camaro now. And where does the bottom of the door open? Not a fan.

Yeah, I agree. We rented a Camaro in FL last year and I didn't like the way it looked or drove. The rear of the new Vet definitely looks like the Camaro. Overrated and underpowered...

The reason that the HP is not way up there Think about for a moment when you see most new vette's they are driven by Middle age or even older It not a car that the younger generation get all excited about This car has become a couples car

Jim! The point of my comment is that the Europeans DO look sexy and classy. This Vette just looks like an overdone cheap imitation to me. And like Todd, I very much dislike the tails and rear end.
BTW, I don't think either your car or mine look boxy and un-aerodynamic. On the other hand, I'm afraid I would have to leave Fox bodies out of that evaluation.

American muscle shouldn't be boxy and un-aerodyamic, you are right.....but be original!! The new corvette looks like it's taken design que's from every other car out there right now and looks completely un original. Case in point of this:

I already dislike all the concepts I have seen for the new Mustang........but then again, I don't have to like them cause I'll probably never own one.

hahah i can't take credit for that, there is a very lengthy thread on svtperformance that goes into pretty good detail about the car

Well, I don't like the tails either.
But you guys are still crazy. And those of you arguing bang for the buck -- the base of a 2013 GT500 is $54,000. The Vette is $56,000. If you're buying a car at that price, 2 grand isn't your deciding factor.
And while I would gladly take a GT500 from anyone who wants to buy me one, a Corvette is in a different class. There's a reason that the Corvette gets compared to Porsche and Ferrari, while Mustangs get compared to Corvettes.
I'm not switching to the other team or anything. I like my "boxy", supercharged, tire-shredding, dinosaur fed, factory torque beast. Vette's aren't really my style. I was just saying I think it is a well done design and I like it better than the current crop of Mustangs.
