Last week, in preparation for the July 8 show, I spent a day helping MattW detail his Dark Shadow Blue '90 GT convertible.
It was really rough. The car did not have a good winter -- it had a large branch fall on it, the car cover took some damage, and at some point a young neice or nephew scraped the whole drivers side of the car with a bicycle handlebar. There was severe oxidation and swirling on the paint.

I was able to get a good restore on it, but it really needs some new paint -- especially on the hood and doors. According to Matt one of the previous owners used it as a "beach car" and it looks like they may have regularly wiped sand off the car with a beach towel -- there are drastic forward-backward scratches through the clear and into the color. I didn't want to go with any more aggressive products because I'm a little leery of how thin the paint may be.
But after a 5 hour session, we were able to restore a pretty decent look to the car. It looks good from spectator distance.

Here's the finish before:

And after the first pass of on the hood using Meguiars #80 speed glaze.

Here's a comparison shot showing the difference.

Here's a couple of beauty shots after 2 passes of Meguiars #80, and one pass each of #7 glaze and #26 Paste Wax.

George called it quick. He didn't tell me about the "24 hours" part...
