for years these guys have been putting out some really smart, cool ad's. Hat's off to Dodge, they are killing it in the ad world. Ford really needs to take note or steal some of these people. They are losing the battle for mindshare

Here is the latest:

Well with all the recent recalls they've had, the Gov fine Fiat was hit with because of them slow to respond to issues and having enough parts to do the work, the RAM truck buy back program recently. then in the news over and over about Fiat wanting to merger with GM, they need to be doing something.

Good luck to 'em.

I agree with you Ian.

Unfortunately, Here's yet another thread that is going sideways......

George, I see where you're going with your thoughts.....but I didn't get the sense that Ian was talking about quality standards at Dodge in his original post.
Name one recent Ford commercial that is as cool and impressive as the Dodge Ads...

The only Mustang commercial that comes to my mind is the one where I believe the black GT500 was cruising through the empty streets of NY city. Other than that there's nothing.

Don't care about company health or financial stability, I am just talking about the "cool" factor. That's how market share is won........

The only other Ford ad that comes to mind is the Ford GT supercar commercial they did for the superbowl in 2004

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQ18DkQTRuY

and teh steve mcqueen commercial ( which was very cool ) from 2004

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWgbRK0gDws

both of which are from 11 years old!!

My point was/is that IF a company has had some recent bad press for whatever, then sometimes NEW ads are done to change the focus away from all that. Marketing 101.
Case in point, do you know why some not all car mfg's started up with 5yr 100K mile warranties several yrs ago like Chrysler & GM (for a time) and others, came from?

There was a rash of quality issues. SO in order to "right the ship(s)" these mfg's came out with 5yr/100k warranty ads to try to convince buyers that car were now more reliable. Ford refused to do it, and GM later dropped it. Because there then becomes a certain perception these extended warranties are needed because of past quality issues. A catch 22 if you will. Big article written years ago on this.

So again what does this have to do with orig story, with the recent bad press Fiat/Ram have had, hence possibly new hard core ads are born to re-focus the buying public.
Got it!!

No, I don't.
We aren't talking about cause and response.

It's really simple.
Dodge runs cool ass commercials. (We don't care why!)

Ford doesn't. (Why don't they?)

...Ford doesn't. (Why don't they?)...

Because they don't need to. Mustang (and Camaro, which you don't see ads for either) are beating the bejesus out of Challenger in sales numbers.
If it sells itself, you don't need to spend millions on TV commercial.

There is some truth to this statement.......after all, dodge did cancel all the remaining 2015 hellcat orders for this year and told buyers they'd get a 2016.

Either way, when I turn on TV...all I see are cool ad's for dodge.

Once again someone brings up cause and response......

Since dodge has low sales, they need TV spots.
Since Mustang has decent sales they don't need to run TV ads.

Who cares about all of that......Ian's original point was specific to the TV ads from Dodge... NOT about sales, NOT about quality.... and whatever else you can think of.
It's simply about the ads. There are current Mustang ads......unfortunately, they suck.

I may be mistaken I don't think so But Ford sales on the new Mustang have exceeded all there expectations for 2015 On Monday night on the Black List Ford is there sponser and they had Mustang commercials more than once during the show
