Saw a '73 vert for sale. low miles. Seems well cared for.
Could be a candidate for my hard earned money. But i know next to nothing about the Big Body years. Anyone know anything about 'em? Things to look out for, etc.

A look of the cars from 70 and beyond unless you get it complete & no rust repairs, they are harder to find good replacement parts. So my advice is buy it complete as you can. Look on ebay & other vendor catalogs to see in advance what parts are around. Drive train is basic. Also buy Hemmings Motor News to look.

My first car was a 71 Mach 1 351 Clevlend/Hurst shifter from the factory. Nice car, floaty at high speeds, parts are available through Mustangs Unlimited, etc.relativly easy to work on if I remember.Nice car all around,I would buy another one.

Don't know a lot about the 73 specifically. I think it looks cool, but it's BIG! It's the year that Lee Iacocca referred to as "the PIG". You don't see a lot of them, so I would guess it would have public interest at shows and such based on the rarity factor. I know they didn't sell a lot that year.

Personally, if I was in your position, I would go through your Fox. Get it all tuned up and do a couple bolt-on modifications then Perhaps a cowl hood and a 93 cobra body kit with some real nice wheels. At the end of it all you might even pocket some cash for mods down the road.

Agreed some parts are avail for 71-73 thru catalogs, but not nearly as much as earlier ones. Especially sheet metal. More parts NOT avail than there are avail for those years. So if going with a 71-73 get it as complete as possible.

I was just looking at my mustang Unlimited catalog and YES they do sell '73 parts, but its not for everything. So there are some but not all parts are available for a '73. Like George said, most of the parts are for '64-'70.

Has it spent most or all its life in Boston area? Not a bad looking ride if price is right. His/her reason for selling? Low miles documented? Look at brake/gas pedals for big wear. Never in accident? The shape of the top, orig?

Nice ride to take to Carlisle Ford Nationals. lol

The only thing I remember to check out, they were very prone to rusting around the tail lights, especially the bottoms.....

Got an email from the guy. It was a '72 not a 73. But he just got an offer on it. I told him to take it since I couldn't have gotten down to see it until the weekend at least. Also he only wanted $6000 for it, so I suspect there were some issues. From what I've seen a good condition big body should be about $10k if it's not a Mach or other 'special".
